Waitangi Day Rubbish Ambassador

Another successful Waitangi Day as a rubbish ambassador with EcoSolutions!

A dedicated team of volunteers guided the crowd into throwing their waste into these 3 bins – compost, recycling and rubbish. The compost bin was the winner! The majority of food and drink containers were compostable and will be turned into lovely soil by Waipapa Landscapers.
We left the Treaty Grounds looking pretty mint!
My only disappointment was the level of ignorance around what is compostable and how lazy humans can be when it comes to checking which bin to use…. turn my back for 30 seconds, glance into the bins, find food and recycling in the rubbish bin. Also the huge number of plastic water bottles used once then thrown away .. many with precious life-giving water left in them.
